Announcing the Public Presentation of a new work, a mural depicting the history of the Santa Barbara Funk Zone Arts District. Someone has been working 14 hour days to finish this project (me!) I’m nearly to the finish line on this gargantuan project, which has occupied me since early February. I began with presentation of concept drawings for the Arts Advisory Committee. Next I worked up detailed drawings of all the ‘characters’ including historical figures from Santa Barbara archives. The research alone too me hours. If I didn’t love this work, I couldn’t have persisted to see it to conclusion. It has been physically and mentally challenging, to say the least!
Coming up, the murals will be installed Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10 Yananali St., Santa Barbara.

Finally, this project was underwritten by Santa Barbara Beautiful and supported by the City Arts Advisory Committee. The committee plans to commission additional murals for the Michael Kate Interiors and Gallery at the intersection of Yanonali and Santa Barbara Streets and at 123 Santa Barbara Street. I hope to see you there!
